Posláním doktorského studia v oboru Biblická teologie je způsobem obvyklým v pokročilých studiích kultivovat u studentů jejich schopnost teologického myšlení a na expertní úroveň prohloubit jejich poznání v příslušných biblicko-teologických disciplínách.
Obor pokrývá všechny aspekty odborného zkoumání Bible jako veličiny teologické, literární a historické. Studium je zaměřeno buď na starozákonní či na novozákonní oblast. Zahrnuje zkoumání biblických textů v jejich relevanci pro náboženskou a kulturní tradici. Podle konkretizace disertačního projektu může zkoumat problematiku textovou, jazykovou, literární, literárně-historickou, historiografickou, náboženskou či kulturní, obvykle si musí klást také otázky po teologickém profilu či celkové výpovědi Písma k relevantním otázkám teologie a věnovat se také problematice porozumění, komunikace a interpretace. Do pracovního pole biblických věd patří také navazující oblasti speciálních disciplín – například filologie starověkých a antických jazyků, literatura starověkého Předního východu a hlavních kultur antiky, religionistická fenomenologie a studium náboženství starověku, archeologie a historiografie příslušných regionů, stejně jako reflexe vlastní metodologie, hermeneutická problematika, dějiny biblického bádání a jeho trendy v současnosti.
Studium je v příslušné míře provázáno s dalšími oblastmi teologie a podobně jako jiné teologické obory má interdisciplinární rozměr.

Learning outcomes

Absolvent má komplexní znalosti teologie. Jeho expertní znalosti, dovednosti a kompetence se týkají zejména historického a literárního zkoumání biblických látek a jejich kontextů. Podle zaměření svého disertačního projektu je specializován buď v oblasti starozákonního, nebo novozákonního bádání. Ovládá příslušné starověké jazyky a exegetickou metodologii. Zná dějiny svého oboru, reflektuje jeho metodologickou problematiku a rozumí současným trendům bádání.
Je schopen přesného teologického myšlení, dokáže pojednat i vysoce komplexní a kontroverzní otázky svého oboru. Dokáže zpracovat originální vědecké texty a své nálezy srozumitelně vyložit v interdisciplinárních souvislostech. Výsledky je schopen prezentovat na mezinárodní úrovni.

The purpose of doctoral studies in the field of Biblical Theology is for students to cultivate, in the usual way for advanced studies, their ability to think theologically and to deepen their knowledge in the relevant biblical theology disciplines on an expert level.
The field covers all aspects of specialist study of the Bible, such as theological, literary, and historical factors. Studies focus on either the Old Testament or the New Testament field. They include the examination of biblical texts in their relevance for religious and cultural traditions. Depending on the specific dissertation project, studies may deal with textual, linguistic, literary, literary-historical, historiographical, religious, or cultural issues. Normally, they must also raise questions about the theological profile or overall testimony of Scripture in relation to relevant theological questions, and also deal with issues of understanding, communication, and interpretation. The working field of biblical studies also includes the related specialist disciplines – for example, the philology of the ancient and classical languages, the literature of the ancient Near East and the principal cultures of Antiquity, the phenomenology of religions and the study of the religions of antiquity, the archaeology and historiography of the relevant regions – and also a reflection on methodologies in the biblical field, hermeneutical issues, and the history of biblical research and its current trends. Studies are linked to an appropriate degree with other theological fields, and, like other branches of theology, have an interdisciplinary dimension.

Learning outcomes

Graduates have a thorough knowledge of theology. Their expert knowledge, skills, and competence relate in particular to the historical and literary study of the biblical texts and their contexts. Depending on the subject of their dissertation project, they specialise either in Old Testament or New Testament research. They are proficient in the relevant ancient languages and in exegetic methodology. They are familiar with the history of their discipline, reflect on the methodological issues relating to it, and understand current trends in research.
They are capable of exact theological thinking, and of discussing even highly complex and controversial questions in their field. They are able to deal with original texts and explain their findings comprehensibly in interdisciplinary settings. They are capable of presenting their results on an international level.

Das Ziel einer Promotion im Fach Biblische Theologie ist es, im Rahmen eines fortgeschrittenen Studiums Fähigkeiten zum theologischen Denken zu kultivieren und die Kenntnisse der jeweiligen biblisch-theologischen Disziplin auf Expertenebene zu vertiefen. Der Studiengang deckt alle Aspekte biblisch-wissenschaftlicher Forschung (d.h. den theologischen, literarischen und historischen Aspekt), ab. Der Studiengang ist entweder auf den alttestamentlichen oder neutestamentlichen Bereich ausgerichtet. Er umfasst die Erforschung biblischer Texte und deren Relevanz für die religiöse und kulturelle Tradition. Je nach Schwerpunkt des Dissertationsprojekts kann die Arbeit eine textuelle, sprachliche, literarische oder literaturgeschichtliche Problemstellung behandeln. Dabei sollte sie die Frage nach dem theologischen Profil und nach allgemeinen Aussagen der Schrift im Hinblick auf relevante Fragen der Theologie aufwerfen und sich zudem mit dem Problem des Verständnisses, der Kommunikation und der Interpretation der Schrift befassen. In das Arbeitsfeld der Bibelforschung gehören auch mit ihr verbundene, spezielle Disziplinen, wie beispielsweise die Altphilologie, die Literaturwissenschaft des altertümlichen Nahen Ostens und der Antike, religionswissenschaftliche Phänomenologie, das Studium antiker Religionen, die Archäologie und Historiographie der jeweiligen Regionen, sowie die Methodologie, die Hermeneutik, die Geschichte der Bibelwissenschaften und ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte in der heutigen Zeit.
Das Studium ist entsprechend mit anderen Bereichen der Theologie verknüpft und weist, ähnlich wie andere theologische Fachbereiche, eine interdisziplinäre Ausrichtung auf.

Der/die Absolvent/in verfügt über weitereichende Kenntnisse der Theologie. Seine Expertenkenntnisse, Fertigkeiten und Kompetenzen beziehen sich auf die Untersuchung biblischer Texte und deren Kontexte in historischer oder literarischer Hinsicht. Je nach Schwerpunkt des Dissertationsprojekts ist er/sie entweder im Bereich der alttestamentlichen oder im Bereich der neutestamentlichen Wissenschaft spezialisiert. Er/sie beherrscht die jeweiligen historischen Sprachen und das exegetische Handwerk. Er/sie kennt die Geschichte seiner Disziplin, er/sie ist dazu in der Lage, methodologische Problemstellungen dieser Disziplin zu reflektieren und ist mit den heutigen Forschungsschwerpunkten vertraut. Er/sie ist eines präzisen theologischen Denkens fähig und schafft es, sich auch mit komplexen und kontroversen Fragen auseinanderzusetzen. Er/sie ist imstande, wissenschaftliche Texte zu analysieren, seine/ihre daraus folgenden Erkenntnisse in interdisziplinärem Kontext verständlich auszulegen. Seine/ihre Ergebnisse ist er/sie in der Lage, auf internationaler Ebene zu präsentieren.
