ve Středomoří a na Blízkém Východě až po Irán, které byly významným způsobem ovlivňovány a samy také ovlivňovaly řeckou a římskou civilizaci. Časově je tento tématický okruh vymezen prvým tisíciletím př. Kr. a polovinou prvního tisíciletí po Kr. a přednášky jsou řazeny pokud možno chronologicky. V úvodu každé přednášky je podán stručný historický exkurs, hlavní pozornost je věnovány památkám hmotné kultury jednotlivých regionů, umění, architektuře i drobné umělecko-řemeslné produkci. |
