Summary: This course will be focusing on the mission, services, users and funding of academic libraries in the
Czech Republic - in the context of the Czech higher education system in general. Participants will have a chance
to learn about the position of academic libraries within the organizational structure of universities, about the
staffing and funding, as well as about the services that are provided to various user groups. The comparison of the
situation in academic libraries in the Czech Republic and other European countries will be an outcome of
numerous classroom discussions. Also, students will have a chance to see some of the academic libraries in
Prague as part of the tours and while working on the final project.
