The goal of the course is to present psychological themes with special focus on the theory of intellect of Medieval Arabic philosopher al-Farabi. We will read and comment some selected passages from his three texts: The Perfect City, The Aphorisms of the Statesman (the Czech working translations available) and the letter On the Intellect (in English or French translations). The knowledge of Arabic language is considered to be an advantage for orienting in the text not a requisite for enrolling. |
