Kurz se bude zabývat 15 rockovými LP deskami, které jsou obvykle vnímány jako vlivové a klíčové v rámci vývoje světové rockové hudby 70. let 20. století. Kurz navazuje na předchozí seminář o Velkých deskách 60. let, ale na rozdíl od něj bude založen na kolektivní seminární diskusi bez referátů. Hudební materiál nebude zkoumán izolovaně (jako jednotlivá LP), ale bude uspořádán ve třech časových trsech (raná 70. léta, polovina 70. let, konec 70. let). Komparativní interpretace "napříč deskami" by měla nabídnout možnost pozorovat genezi a modifikaci "dobové řeči" z hlediska poetiky a sémantiky těchto LP (hudba, text, vizuální podoba obalu LP, videa či záznamy živých verzí, mediální vystoupení apod.), ale především z hlediska zesíťování jednotlivých významů, motivů a témat do širšího pole dobové popkultury.

Požadována je dobrá znalost angličtiny (schopnost rozumět textům písní a číst odbornou literaturu). V případě zájmu převyšujícího kapacitu místnosti budou mít přednost studenti, kteří absolvovali kurz Velké desky 60. let. Kurz je otevřen i ostatním studentům, ale protože jde o kurz typický navazující ("II."), počítá primárně s těmi, kdo absolvovali Velké desky 60. let v ZS.
