The climate change represents essential challenges for our society, politics, and policy. The project-oriented workshop is designed to get students acquainted with climate change challenges from perspectives of society (e.g., new social movements, online collective action) and politics of climate change policy at different levels (e.g., climate change policy issues on regional, national, and European level reflected by the Internet and new social media. It provides an excellent opportunity to gain an international academic experience. The workshop aims at developing international academic cooperation between national communities and at enhancing students’ team work and international communication skills in academic area. It is also appreciated as an excellent preparatory experience for your own study abroad (e.g., Erasmus+ etc.).
The workshop takes place in Prague and Konstanz and it is accompanied by an informal program which enables Prague students to discover beauties of the Lake Constance region (Konstanz, Mainau, Reichenau, Meersburg, Friedrichshafen) and life of Konstanz students.

This workshop is primarily open to all BA and MA students of the ISS UK FSV as well as the PVP program who are interested in this kind of experience and who will submit a short motivation letter (max. 1 paragraphs) send to vnovotny[at]fsv.cuni.cz.

The number of the participants is limited to 6 students.

In case of more than 6 applicants, the choice of participants will be based on their motivation, year of study (preference for advanced BA students), further foreign mobility potential, command of English; command of German as an advantage.

Working language is English.

Konstanz university is an extraordinary place on the Lake Constance (Bodensee) which represent
one of the excellent German universities
with the world-renown Department of Politics and Public Administration, and Department of Sociology
with a perfect easily accessible library,
opportunities for a longer research stay (Eastern Partnerships, Erasmus+), and
many other opportunities to discover the Lake Constance region (Meersburg, Mainau, Reichenau, Friedrichshafen, Zurich, etc.) you will have time to during the informal program in KN.

The stay is organized within a long-lasting inter-university exchange under very favorable conditions because the University of Konstanz provides:
1) accommodation (very probably the Humbolt Institute - double-bed with a bathroom, no kitchenette available but you can buy some meals at the Humbolt, or there is a bakery over the street and nearby supermarkets)
2) means of transport on the place (very probably bikes which are the best mean of transport there)
3) pocket money to contribute to cover your meals (university cafeteria provides very favorable prices for meals (lunches and dinners) and there are classical supermarkets in the surrounding)
Thus, you just need to cover transport to KN and back (you can find quite favorable fares by Flixbus or train), travel insurance, and additional spendings not covered by pocket money.

The workshop where you will work in joint Prague-Konstanz teams (3-4 students) and where your personal presence is needed takes place on:
Friday March 3, 9.30-10.50 Intro session
Prague week (Monday, March 27, 9.30-12.20, JPEK405; Tuesday, March 28, 15.30-16.50, JPEK212; Wednesday, March 29, 14.00-15.20, JPEK211; Thursday, March 30, 12.30-13.50, JPEK405)
Konstanz week (Sunday June 18 - Saturday June 24, 2023)

Thus, the condition for participation in the workshop is above-mentioned:
to send to my email (vnovotny@fsv.cuni.cz):
1) your short motivation (why do you want to participate in the workshop in 1 paragraph),
2) a clear commitment that you will participate in all planned activities (particularly in the KN stay on June 18-24), and that

3) you are aware of sharing the expenses of traveling to Konstanz (see above) by Friday, Feb 17.

Feel please free to ask questions.
