Primer text: Hal R. Varian, Intermediate Microeconomics: A Modern Approach, W.W. Norton &Company, 8th edition, 2010. Many copies are available in the IES library.

Other useful textbooks are, for example:

  • T. Nechyba, Microeconomics: An Intuitive Approach with Calculus, South-Western, Cengage Learning
  • W. Nicholson/C. Snyder, Microeconomic Theory: Basis Principles and Extensions, South- Western
  • Schotter, Microeconomics: A Modern Approach, South-Western 2009

The primer text covers all main topics covered in the lectures. Any extensions presented at the lectures and not available in the Varian textbook can be downloaded from SIS.

In SIS, you will be able to download the lecture slides, seminar tasks and solutions, upload your home assignments and learn your grade - under the tab "Studijni mezivysledky/Study group roster", an icon with four blue figures.

Metody výuky - angličtina
Poslední úprava: doc. PhDr. Julie Chytilová, Ph.D. (13.09.2020)

There will be three types of classes: lectures, joint seminars for all students, regular seminars where the students will be divided into three groups and should pick one of the three seminars.

Please see the table at the end of this document for specific dates and times of the lectures and seminars. It is recommended that the students attend all lectures (blue color in the table), all joint seminars (green) and regular seminars (light, dark or very dark yellow).

During the semester, there will be two home assignments which should be prepared individually (not in groups) and handed out in electronic form via SIS. The assignments will be similar to numerical exercises presented at the seminars, but will be of higher difficulty.

The home assignments will be released and due on the following dates:

  • HA1: released on October 15, submission deadline on October 25.
  • HA2: released on December 3, submission deadline on December 13.
