Literary history pro-seminar is aimed at the assumption of basic competences necessary to literary historical interpretation of the work. It tries to make acquaintance of the basic reference books of the branch, of different genres of professional literature, it teaches to work with the sources. At the same time it is oriented to the individual points of view of literary history interpretation, it is interested in its methodological hinterland, indicates the spectrum of basic researcher´s problems, goes trough its "exemplary" solutions drown from the existing professional literature and teaches the students to apply the acquired findings on the definite literary historical material, relative especially to the history of the Czech literature of 19th century.

Literárně historický proseminář se zaměřuje na osvojení základních kompetencí potřebných pro literárně historickou interpretaci díla. Seznamuje posluchače se základními příručkami oboru, s různými žánry odborné literatury, učí je práci s pramenným materiálem. Zároveň se soustřeďuje na jednotlivé aspekty literárně historické interpretace (např. biografický kontext díla, textová geneze díla, recepce literárního díla, problematika literárního směru, historická poetika), probírá jejich metodologické zázemí, naznačuje spektrum základních badatelských problémů s nimi spjatých, probírá jejich "vzorová" řešení čerpaná ze stávající odborné literatury a učí posluchače aplikovat získané poznatky na konkrétním literárně historickém materiálu, vztahujícím se zejména k dějinám české literatury 19. století. Volbou příkladového materiálu tedy koresponduje se souběžně probíhající přednáškou Česká literatura 19. století.
