The aim of the course is to introduce students to modern English morphology. The course focuses on the classification of words according to their function and meaning, and on the morphological, syntactic and semantic characteristics of nouns, adjectives, pronouns and numerals. In relevant chapters, the contrastive approach is adopted.

Cílem je seznámit studenty s pojmy z anglické morfologie a vést je ke zvládnutí morfologických kategorií jednotlivých slovních druhů. Kurz se zabývá klasifikací slov podle funkce a významu, morfologickou, syntaktickou a sémantickou charakteristikou podstatných a přídavných jmen, zájmen, číslovek a příslovcí, dále funkcí a užíváním determinantů a modifikátorů. Důraz je kladen na srovnání systémů anglické a české gramatiky.
