This course is designed for students in both bachelor´s as well as master´s study programmes of economics who have reached intermediate level (B1). It focuses on the enrichment of general vocabulary, solidification of vocabulary contained in specialized economic texts, ability to comprehend academic texts of easier level, and revision and improvement of grammatical structures.
The course is scheduled for winter semester.

Understanding of written, less challenging academic texts, enhancement of understanding of spoken word (scholarly texts from the field of economic German), enhancement of communication skills, basic business correspondence, enlargement of vocabulary corresponding to the level B1/B2 of European reference framework for language studies.

Pre-requisites to obtain the credit for the class, the so called "zápočet":

- active participation in lessons

- one complex test held during the examination period, with the total of 80 points and the duration of 1 hour. To successfully pass the course, it is necessary to reach at least 65% of correct answers. Students are entitled to 2 re-takes, i.e. all together they have 3 attempts. Active participation in classes is a good pre-requisite for successful completion of the course; therefore, attendance is highly recommended.

The receipt of the credit (zápočet) is a pre-requisite for the registration to the course JLB 012.
