The course is designed for students with B1 knowledge of Spanish (see course description of Spanish. B1.1.or: http://pruebadenivel.cervantes.es/exam.php?id=17)
It focuses on development of both basic communication and academic skills in order to reach the expected level B1.2.
One-semester course, 1 session of 90 minutes per week in the classroom, 90 minutes per week assignments in Moodle, homeworks and preparation for the classes.
Please note: The course places considerable time demands on students. It is necessary to prepare for the course continuously, to complete homework on time and to learn current subject matter.
The language of instruction is Spanish.

The aim of the course is to improve all language skills (speaking, reading, listening, speaking) at B1 level. Students will understand the main ideas of clear written input on common topics they encounter regularly at work, school, leisure, etc. They will learn to write simple coherent text on topics they know well or are personally interested in. They can describe their experiences and events, dreams, hopes and goals and can explain and justify their opinions and plans in a concise way.

The course is a combination of face-to-face teaching and independent work in Moodle.

2 hours per week are in attendance, with a minimum of 2 hours of independent work in Moodle. Another important part of the course is the homework assignments given after each lesson and continuous preparation for the lessons.

Course content: The course is based on the Embarque 2 textbook, Modules 7-10, supplemented by material from the preparation books for the certified exams, grammar or vocabulary books, and original Spanish language resources, videos and audiotapes. The course practices all four language skills equally: reading, listening, speaking and writing.

  • pronouns
  • subjunctive present tense (presente de subjuntivo)
  • gerundium
  • prepositions (a, de, desde, en, por, para)
  • periphrasis (perífrasis verbales)
  • subordinate clauses

Topics: culture, nature, senses, expressing emotions, administration, leisure time activities

To enter the course, knowledge of the language at level A2+/B1 is required:
