This one-term course is primarily designed for students with an English level B2. It is taught 1x2 hrs per week online.
The course focuses on current cultural, socio-cultural, demographic and political issues in English speaking countries.The course uses authentic materials (texts, audio, video) from current media. Students get an opportunity to improve their reading comprehension skills (journalistic and academic texts), increase their vocabulary stock, strengthen their presentation and discussion skills. The course will be modified according to students´ needs.

The course will be taught in class unless there is a change of the pandemic restrictions.

Analyzing journalistic and academic texts - reading comprehension.

Video and audio - listening comprehension.

Own presentations.

Increasing lexical stock, lexical exercises.

Increasing the competence in speaking skills - short and longer discourses, presentation skills.
