This one-term course is primarily designed for students with an English level B2. It is taught 1x2 hrs per week online.
The course focuses on current cultural, socio-cultural, demographic and political issues in English speaking countries.The course uses authentic materials (texts, audio, video) from current media. Students get an opportunity to improve their reading comprehension skills (journalistic and academic texts), increase their vocabulary stock, strengthen their presentation and discussion skills. The course will be modified according to students´ needs.
The course will be taught in class unless there is a change of the pandemic restrictions.

Jednosemestrální kurz je určen převážně studentům s minimální vstupní úrovní angličtiny na úrovni B2. Kurz je vyučován 1x2 h týdně online.
Kurz se zaměřuje na současná kulturní, socio-kulturní, demografická a politická témata v anglicky mluvících zemích. Kurz se opírá o autentické materiály (texty, audio, video) ze současných médií. Studenti mají možnost si zlepšit své schopnosti porozumění čtenému textu (publicistickému i akademickému), zvýšit svou slovní zásobu, upevnit své prezentační dovednosti a schopnosti diskutovat. Kurz se bude přizpůsobovat aktuálním potřebám studentů.
Kurz bude vyučován prezenčně. Pokud dojde ke změně protipandemických opatření, studenti a studentky budou informováni.
