The programme of the course: Practising the key grammar structures using B1 – B2 testing materials. The starting level of English is B1, the final level is B2. The syllabus of the course is chosen according to the average level and preferences of the particular group. The course aims at students with basic knowledge of English grammar who would like to improve this knowledge, or possibly, who are preparing for the B2 exam and need to focus on grammar. Based on the current government measurements and/or university/faculty decisions it will be decided whether the learning will be face-to-face or distant. This is a so-called blended-learning course, which means a combination of face-to-face lessons and individual work online. The organization of the course will be as follows: Blended Learning: 1 x 2 face-to-face lessons + preparation and ca. 2 online lessons (Moodle) - the time required for the online work relates also to the individual approach and level of the English knowledge of a particular student. The work in the course is divided into the face-to- face lessons and self-study activities – the online part focuses mainly on practising the individual grammar issues and preparation for the face-to-face lessons, whereas the face-to-face lessons focus on expressing and deducing the individual rules and their interactive implementation. You will need to work in Moodle at least twice a week - before and after the lesson at school. Before the beginning of the course the students will be sent an email with the information on signing into Moodle and relating to the organization of the whole course. |

Educational aims of the course: During the course the student aquires and/or clarifies and/or strengthens the chosen grammar issues at the level of B2 (CEFR). At the end of the course the student can use actively these chosen grammar issues, without making major mistakes that would cause misunderstanding. So-called slips are tolerated during speaking production. In writing the student can use these grammar structures correctly. |

This a blended learning course, which means that face-to-face lessons are combined with self-study online. This form of learning offers a lot of advantages related to work with time. The time management is up to the students themselves. It is up to them when and how much time they spend with an activity. At the same time it requires a lot of responsibility on the side of the student. It is, therefore, necessary to set some rules and follow the rules. The emphasis on the studnets' autonomy is really big. The regular face-to-face seminars take place on Wednesdays. The students need to prepare for these seminars, there will be some materials and tasks online, which need to be ready for the face-to-face lessons. These materials and tasks open on Friday mornings. On Wednesdays the face-to-face lessons take place, and after the face-to-face seminar another part opens in Moodle, which focuses on the practice of the particular issue. One topic within one week will be realized as follows: Friday morning: materials and tasks that need to be prepared for the following face-to-face seminar open - without this preparation it will not be possible to fully and actively take part in the lessons, the students need to complete these by Wednesday - not only will they bring the prepared materials and tasks with them to the lessons, but they also need to upload their completed work into Moodle. Wednesday morning: face-to-face lessons based on the prepared materials and tasks, explanation of the particular grammar issue and its practice. Wednesday after the face-to-face lessons: another part in Moodle opens - this is for the students to practise more the particular grammar issue. This needs to be completed by the following Monday. This procedure should give the individual students enough space to think about the grammar rules by themselves, it should help them to understand why and how a particular grammar issue is used. Their thoughts and ideas will be cleared and discussed during the face-to-face seminar. |
