During the seminar, we will read and discuss some of the major texts reflecting the experience of totalitarianism (and post-totalitarianism), particularly the texts of Hannah Arendt (Origins of Totalitarianism; Responsibility under Dictatorship), Václav Havel (Power of the Powerless; An Open Letter to Dr Husák), and Milan Kundera (The Book on Laughter and Forgetting).
