Anotace anglicky:
The social network nowadays called X, previously Twitter, proved to be a surprisingly effective tool in the Taliban’s strategic communication. Reports and analyses have shown that the Taliban’s broad network of accounts had been using the platform in a sophisticated way which proved to be instrumental in the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.
The thesis focuses on an account of a central figure of the Taliban’s network - Zabihullah Mujahid, the official spokesperson of the Taliban or rather the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. His account serves as a hub of the Taliban’s X/Twitter network where original posts written by Mujahid himself are shared and texts from the accounts of other prominent Taliban figures, Emirate’s official figures, provincial and regional leaders, and institutions are reposted. The thesis aims to analyze the activity of said X/Twitter account in the period between November 2022 and August 2023. This period arguably marks a time during which the government was fully established and key reforms were implemented. The main research question is how the Taliban utilized X/Twitter in the above-mentioned period. The secondary research questions are to what extent, in terms of both quantity and nature of the content, the production aimed at domestic and international audience differed, as well as what image were the Taliban trying to create through their activities on the platform.
Thus, the thesis will study how political discourse was used by the Taliban through X/Twitter in the followed period for the reproduction of political power and domination. Therefore, an approach of a political critical discourse analysis, as defined by Teun A. van Dijk, will be used to analyze the main primary source, constituted by X/Twitter posts in Pashto, Persian, and English languages.

Anotace česky:
Sociální síť známá dnes po názvem X, dříve Twitter, se ukázala jako překvapivě účinný nástroj strategické komunikace hnutí Tálibán. Studie a analýzy ukázaly, že sofistikované užívání rozsáhlé sítě účtů na platformě sehrálo klíčovou roli při převzetí moci v Afghánistánu hnutím Tálibán.
Tato práce se zaměřuje na centrální postavu sítě účtů hnutí Tálibán – Zabíhulláha Mudžáhida, oficiálního mluvčího hnutí, respektive Islámského emirátu Afghánistán. Jeho účet slouží jako pomyslná křižovatka účtů Tálibánu na síti X/Twitter. Jsou zde totiž šířeny jednak původní Mudžáhidovy příspěvky, zároveň však i texty dalších významných postav hnutí, státních představitelů emirátu, provinčních a regionálních vůdců i institucí. Cílem této práce je analyzovat aktivitu účtu Zabíhulláha Mudžáhida v období mezi listopadem roku 2022 a srpnem roku 2023, tedy v období, během nějž byly provedeny klíčové reformy a vláda se již zcela etablovala. Hlavní výzkumnou otázku je, jak Tálibán využíval síť X/Twitter v uvedeném období. Vedlejší výzkumné otázky pak jsou, do jaké míry se obsah určený domácímu a mezinárodnímu publiku lišil, a to jak z pohledu kvantity, tak i obsahu, a jaký obraz o sobě hnutí Tálibán prostřednictvím svých aktivit na této platformě vytvářelo.
Práce tedy bude zkoumat, jakým způsobem byl politický diskurz na síti X/Twitter hnutím Tálibán v daném období využíván k reprodukci politické moci a k dominanci. K analýze hlavního pramene, jenž je tvořen příspěvky publikovanými na síti X/Twitter v paštštině, perštině a angličtině, proto bude využito přístupu politické kritické diskurzivní analýzy tak, jak ji definuje Teun A. van Dijk.
