Preliminary scope of work |
Preliminary scope of work in English |
When high-energy particles interact with matter, they induce electromagnetic and/or hadronic cascades (showers). Calorimetry measurements are based on this effect, the primary goal is to measure the total energy of incident particles. The investigation of the calorimeter response with MC simulations is a standard tool when preparing a new calorimeter project. The student can exploit the acquired knowledge in further work in experimental particle physics, for instance in master thesis on ATLAS or FCC experiments at CERN. |
