Guidelines |
Guidelines in English: The goal of the thesis is to combine Hero sampling with fluorescence in a modern global illumination renderer, to create the first integrated system that is capable of combining both efficient spectral sampling with wavelength shifting induced by fluorescence. The work plan is as follows: - Use an existing monochrome spectral renderer as basis. - Extend it to support fluorescence. - Extend it to support Hero Wavelength sampling for non-fluorescent scenes. - Combine both effects. |

Preliminary scope of work |
Preliminary scope of work in English |
This thesis aims at combining two advanced features of modern rendering systems that have not been used in combination before. The first concerns spectral sampling: most current spectral rendering systems use monochrome path propagation techniques. However, recently, the technique of Hero Wavelength Sampling, which evaluates multiple wavelengths at once, and avoids colour noise, has been proposed as an alternative. The second effect, fluorescence support, is problematic to integrate into modern global illumination rendering systems due to the wavelength-shifting it induces, and is therefore also still an uncommon feature in production systems. |
